Alpha-linolenic acid or ALA (a form of omega-3 fatty acids) maintains a good blood cholesterol levels. It reduces the LDL or bad cholesterol levels and increases HDL or good cholesterol levels. ALA also helps to regulate the heart rate and control blood pressure levels. Alpha-linolenic acid helps in good blood flow and prevents abnormal blood clotting.

The phytonutrients in green peas contain anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These phytonutrients protect the heart from chronic inflammatory damages and chronic oxidative damages. Most years we try to grow some green peas in our yard, most everyone can grow peas in their garden, they prefer cool/warm weather and grow best when started in the spring - they do not like heat.
